Public Relations

Patty Reid is a seasoned publicist with three decades of experience. A talented writer and PR strategist, she has managed countless public relations programs that drive results, manage perceptions and build brands.

Since 1995, she has worked extensively in the role of Mario Andretti’s publicist and serves a critical role in his affiliations with companies such as Bridgestone Firestone, IZOD and MagnaFlow. One of Patty’s key strengths is her close working relationship with these and other corporate partners, maintaining and understanding their culture and strategies and ultimately ensuring that relationships are built to have lasting value. Whether assisting with the preparation of a keynote speech or maximizing the effectiveness of an appearance, corporations view Patty as a valuable resource; a member of their team.

Prior to joining Sports Management Network, Patty spent four years as a vice president at Tunheim Partners, a public relations and communications management firm in Minneapolis. There her client was Target Stores, one of the nation’s largest retailers. She supervised a team of specialists who were tasked with differentiating Target stores in the minds of consumers. This included creating and implementing the public relations plan to support all seasonal store campaigns, ongoing publicity for trends in fashion and home decor, for the bridal registry, for Target’s 50 grand openings per year and its various cause marketing programs.

Earlier in her career, Patty spent 11 years working in public relations for the National Hockey League’s Minnesota North Stars.

Patty is recognized as a dependable, accurate source by media far and wide. She has worked with newspapers and magazines from across the globe and has placed guests on top-rated shows including Oprah, Entertainment Tonight, David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Politically Incorrect, CBS 60 Minutes II with Charlies Rose, The Today Show, Good Morning America and Through the Keyhole with Sir David Frost for the BBC.

She holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.
